Southampton Women’s FC is delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Rose Kite from Reading FC.
The 18-year-old shot stopper joins the Hampshire club following a successful trial period including a debut against Tottenham Hotspur at the Silverlake Stadium.
Kite played for Reading Academy in the FA Women’s Super League Academy League and before that was with Hampshire Regional Talent Centre.
The youthful keeper impressed manager Aaron Smith in his search for goalie this summer.
He said: “As our followers will be aware we have been searching high and low for a goalkeeper over the last few weeks.
”What they wont know is that we wanted Rose a few month ago but she was committed at another club, but when this deal fell through I was delighted to be given the chance to speak to her.
”To sign any player from a WSL club is something every manager wants but when that player is also a perfect fit for our squad I feel like I have struck gold.
“Her understanding of the game is far advanced for her age and her ability is too.
“I have high expectations of my players at any club and Rose has already exceeded then with her ability and attitude and I cant wait to see how good she is going to be this year once she settles in.
“A good goalkeeper is worth 12 points a season and signing a goalkeeper of Rose's quality is huge for our aspirations to finish high in this league.”
Rose Kite will wear the number one this season and is available to sponsor. Please, contact the club if you would like to sponsor Rose or any of our senior players.
