PREVIEW | Southampton entertain Exeter in Basingstoke


After three weeks without a game, Southampton Women's are finally back in action against Exeter City.


The Reds welcome the Grecians to Hampshire for the Reserves fixture which saw 10 goals when the two sides met back in September.


Lauren Clark, Emma-Jane May, Kellie Warren, Emily Wernham Jane Yeates (2), Kayleigh Tonks and Tia Hooper all hit the target six months ago and Southampton will be hoping for more of the same on Sunday.


On a day when everything clicked the storming 8-2 win sent the Reds to the top of the FA Women's National League Division One West at the time.


Now it's there's just one point that separates the two sides who sit second and third in the league respectfully.


It will be a tough fixture as Exeter have won four out of their last six matches in the league while Aaron Smith's side have won five out their last six.


Spectators should expect goals has the two clubs are joint second highest scorers in the league with 37 goals apiece however, the Grecians have conceded twice as many.


Both sides' top scorers Jane Yeates and Abbie Britton are expected to be available and they were on the scoresheet back in September.


Exeter have enjoyed a better winter than most this season and have managed to play seven competitive fixtures since the turn of the year compared with Southampton's four.


All fans are welcome down to Winklebury Football Complex, Basingstoke, RG23 8BF for the National League side with both sides looking to keep the pressure on the leaders Southampton FC.



Come on down to Winklebury to see the two sides go head to head, gates open at 2:00pm ahead of a 3:00pm kick-off.


Admission is £4 for adults, concessions £2, under-16s go free.
