Pitter Self Drive join Southampton Women’s FC as their Transport Partner
Southampton Women’s FC are busy preparing for their first season in the FA Women’s Premier League having won the Southern Region league and cup double last season. With fixtures due out next week, local company Pitter Self Drive have stepped in to help with transport for the club’s away games in the FAWPL.
With league fixtures including Plymouth and Cheltenham and potential cup games as far away as Blackburn, the new deal struck will provide much needed support for the team as their travel distances increase.
Jeff Pitter, Managing Director, says “We wanted to get involved as we feel the team is well managed & arriving fresh at a game gives the girls an opportunity to show their skills on the football pitch. Pitter Self Drive has been supporting local organisations for many years including the Scouts & Guides, Fund Raising & Charity Events, Youth Groups, Carnivals etc. We are glad to do our bit to give community organisations greater experiences by supplying vehicles to make it possible.”
Meanwhile, pre-season training is in full swing for Southampton Women’s FC, and a win against AFC Bournemouth last weekend in a friendly is good preparation. The next two friendlies are against other Premier League teams, Chichester City Ladies and Lewes FC Women, and will provide some important matchplay opportunities.
Simon Parker, First Team Manager, is excited by the upcoming season, “We believe in the squad that achieved the SRWFL league and cup double last season, so we are not looking to bring in many new players. We are also fortunate to have a strong reserve team to call upon, who have also been promoted from the Hampshire County League to the SRWFL this season.
The aim is promotion, as it has been for the last 2 seasons. Our performances last season against Portsmouth and Swindon have given us a lot of confidence and we know that when we work hard and challenge ourselves we can compete strongly
